Expert Group 4: Inland Waterways



Aims and objectives


The overall aim of Expert Group 4 is to bring together researchers, policy makers and stakeholders in a series of four 1 day seminars, in order to bring together research and practice and build consensus on the issue of pricing the use of inland waterway infrastructure. Main objectives are:

  • seeking consensus on still unclear methodological issues on the identification and calculation of social marginal costs in inland waterway transport;
  • analyse and interpret implemented practices and actual barriers to pricing reform in inland waterway sector.
  • highlighting peculiarities and likely impacts of reform policies in the inland waterway sector for the new Member States.

The Expert Group Leaders are Arnaud Burgess and Martijn de Kievit (TNO).
